Sometimes Your Goal Requires Extra Credit

One thing I hear all the time is, "I want to get my first chin-up!"
I love that goal because it's one of those milestones that represents more than just upper body strength. It reflects consistency, patience, and confidence.
At Get Fit NH, our programming is periodized for a reason. Every phase of training has a purpose. Some cycles emphasize strength, others conditioning, power, or movement quality. That means not every phase will include a heavy focus on chin-ups.
That doesn't mean you stop working toward your goal.
Sometimes your personal goals require a little extra credit.
If getting your first chin up is important to you, spend a few minutes before or after class practicing. Hang from the bar to improve grip endurance. Perform banded chin-ups to build strength through the movement. Work on slow negatives to develop control. Practice quality single repetitions whenever possible.
Those extra few minutes, done consistently over time, can make a huge difference.
Don't overlook the supporting exercises either. Farmer carries are one of my favorite secret weapons because they build grip strength and endurance, two things you'll need to stay on the bar longer and make progress.
The program builds the foundation.
Your extra credit helps move the needle toward the goals that matter most to you.
If you're willing to put in a little extra work, your first chin-up may be closer than you think.
