Recognize the Pattern. Make the Next Choice.

One of the most powerful things you can learn is to recognize your own self-sabotage.
Not judge it.
Not build an identity around it.
Not throw yourself a pity party.
Just recognize it.
“Oh. There I am doing that thing again.”
Maybe you had one off-track meal and decided the entire weekend was ruined.
Maybe you missed Monday's workout so you told yourself you would start again next week.
Maybe things were finally going really well, and for some reason you started making choices that pulled you backward, or life got in the way.
I have had to learn this one myself...over and over and over again.
Recognizing Self-Sabotage Is the First Step
Awareness gives you an opportunity to interrupt the pattern. Acknowledging self-sabotage does not mean beating the crap out of yourself for doing it.
It means taking responsibility for what happens NEXT.
You do not need to punish yourself.
You do not need to earn your way back.
And you definitely don't need to turn one choice into seven more because you are mad about the first one.
Break the Pattern and Move Forward
Call it what it is.
Learn from it.
Make the next choice.
Move forward.
Growth is not screwing up again. Sometimes growth is simply recognizing the pattern a whole lot faster and refusing to stay there.
